REGINA, May 10, 2010 - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Ray Boughen, Member of Parliament (Palliser), today announced funding for New Dance Horizons to support its 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 programming.
This funding will enable New Dance Horizons to present two components of its annual contemporary dance season: the Performing Series and the Blueprint Series. The Performing Series features the work of local, national, and international contemporary dance artists in Regina and surrounding rural communities throughout the year. The Blueprint Series provides opportunities for established and emerging artists to present their works in progress.
"Our Government recognizes the importance of arts and culture in our society," said Minister Moore. "We are committed to supporting organizations in their efforts to create, produce, and present innovative works that will make Canadians proud and stimulate our economy."
"For more than 20 years, New Dance Horizons has brought great dance performances by local, national, and international artists to audiences in Regina," said Mr. Boughen. "I'm pleased that our Government continues to support this organization, which is the sole presenter of a contemporary dance series in the province of Saskatchewan and whose programming is a critical part of the region's cultural scene."

"We are thrilled to celebrate 25 years of dance creation, production, and presentation."
New Dance Horizons is dedicated to the ever-changing expressions of contemporary dance and is Saskatchewan's only professional contemporary dance company focusing on creation, production, and presentation of contemporary dance. New Dance Horizons is nationally recognized as a small but artistically excellent dance presenter.
The Government of Canada has provided funding of $174,000 ($87,000 per year) through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program gives Canadians increased access to the variety and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentations of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences.
