MADOC, Ontario, May 7, 2010 - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Daryl Kramp, Member of Parliament (Prince Edward-Hastings), today announced funding for the Madoc Canadian Heritage Music and Arts Festival.
This funding will assist the Madoc and District Chamber of Commerce in presenting its 3 rd annual Festival on June 19 and 20, 2010. The Festival, which will take place throughout Hastings County in the towns of Marmora, Madoc, Stirling-Rawdon, and Tweed, will feature musical performances by local artists along with local historical heritage activities, demonstrations, and displays.
"Our Government is proud to support this vibrant annual showcase of Canadian talent," said Minister Moore. "The Madoc Canadian Heritage Music and Arts Festival brings the community together to celebrate local artists and artisans and fosters a spirit of togetherness, while highlighting some tremendous home-grown talent."
"I am delighted to offer this support on behalf of our Government," said Mr. Kramp. "This festival is a true celebration of local talent and the spirit of this community. It provides exposure for performers and vendors and gives community members an opportunity to come together in a shared enjoyment of the arts."
"We are extraordinarily grateful for this support from the Government of Canada," said Jim Bakker, Coordinator of the Madoc and District Chamber of Commerce. "This funding makes it possible to bring visual and performing artists to the community to demonstrate their talents, attracting visitors from far and wide. It provides a great opportunity, both for the artists and for our local businesses."
The Government of Canada has provided funding of $12,000 through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
