NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ontario, May 5, 2010 - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, the Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Member of Parliament for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced funding for the 12th annual presentation of Music Niagara.
From July 17 to August 14, 2010, the Canadian Chamber Academy will present its yearly summer music festival in and around Niagara-on-the-Lake. The performances will feature both Canadian artists and international performers from the United States and Russia in classical music, jazz, opera, and cabaret.
"Our Government is proud to support Music Niagara," said Minister Moore. "This festival has, for more than a decade, contributed to the cultural life in the region. The organization's commitment to excellence is evident in the success that this dedication has brought."
"The annual Music Niagara festival not only brings some of the best musical talent to our area, but also showcases the unique beauty of Niagara-on-the-Lake to all the festival visitors," said Minister Nicholson.
"Music Niagara is grateful to the Canada Arts Presentation Fund for helping Canadian artists to perform across the country," said Marian Bannerman, Managing Director, Music Niagara. "The addition to our Ontario music festival of wonderful musicians from Nova Scotia to British Columbia and all points in between has proven a terrific boon for performers and audiences alike, and we thank the Government of Canada for its crucial role in promoting Canadian talent."
The Government of Canada has provided funding of $15,000 through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program gives Canadians increased access to the variety and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentations of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences.
