OTTAWA—Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will deliver the opening address at a DiverseCity event being hosted by the Canadian Club of Toronto, on Monday, May 10, 2010, at 1 p.m. Event participants will include Mr. John Capobianco, President of the Canadian Club of Toronto; Mr. John Tory and Ms. Ratna Omidvar, co-chairs of DiverseCity; and Mr. Gordon M. Nixon, President and CEO of RBC, as well as business leaders and Toronto youth.
In her address entitled “Corporate Engagement and the Drive to Inspire: Empowering New Leaders in 21st Century Canada,” the Governor General will speak on the key role the business community can play in empowering emerging leaders, including those from minority and underprivileged backgrounds, to help create a stronger, more prosperous and harmonious Canada.
A discussion on ways to cultivate the kind of leadership Canada needs to remain prosperous in an ever-changing global economy will follow. The event will take place in the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Centre Hotel, in Toronto (123 Queen Street West).
