(No. A/77 - May 3, 2010) The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will host a conference of G8 officials on May 3 and 4, in Gatineau, Quebec. The Minister will deliver the keynote address.
Minister Cannon will speak of Canada's leadership in the G8 in helping address security vulnerabilities in certain countries. He will also touch on how closer cooperation among G8 partner capacity-building programs could be achieved for peace operations, counterterrorism, the control of drugs and crime, and the reduction of the risk of nuclear proliferation, in order to increase effectiveness and coherence in addressing regional security vulnerabilities.
