OTTAWA, ONTARIO (May 14, 2010) – The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians today announced that Douglas George Phillips has been re-appointed to serve a second term of three years as Yukon Administrator.
“I am pleased that Mr. Phillips has accepted an additional term serving as Yukon Administrator,” said Minister Strahl. “He has already demonstrated his capacity to serve the people of Yukon through this role and will continue to affirm his commitment when he acts in his capacities on behalf of the Commissioner of Yukon.”
The Administrator of Yukon acts in the place of the Commissioner of Yukon if the Commissioner is unable to fulfill his or her duties during an absence or illness or other inability, or when the office is vacant. The Yukon Act establishes the position. This appointment is effective as of April 22, 2010.
