New E-Course Supports the Achievement of Due Diligence in Workplace Health and Safety
Hamilton, ON (May 27, 2010) – The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) has developed a new e-course focusing on due diligence in workplace health and safety.
The term “due diligence” is the level of judgment, care, caution, determination and activity a person would reasonably be expected to do under particular circumstances. Applied to occupational health and safety, due diligence means that employers should take all reasonable precautions, under those particular circumstances, to prevent injuries or accidents in the workplace.
Due Diligence in Occupational Health & Safety explains the legal significance of due diligence while also exploring the four main factors that determine the level of action required to achieve it. More importantly, this one-hour course teaches best practices that can be implemented to help develop a culture that supports the safety and protection of the people who work and visit the workplace.
CCOHS courses are unique in that they are reviewed by expert representatives from labour, employers and government to ensure the content and approach are unbiased and credible. All CCOHS e-learning courses are available in English and French.
