COTEAU-DU-LAC, Quebec, June 26, 2010 - On behalf of the Honourable Gary Lunn, Minister of State (Sport), the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State (Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec), today announced funding for Triathlon Canada for the Triathlon Soulanges 2010, which is taking place today.
"Our Government is proud to support the 2010 Triathlon Soulanges," said Minister of State Lebel. "By bringing together some of the world's best triathletes, this event will provide participants and spectators alike with an outstanding opportunity to enjoy the highest level competition. We would also like to highlight the hard work and dedication of the numerous organizers and volunteers who are helping make this event a success."

"Investing in our next generation of Olympic heroes is equally important, and we applaud Minister of State Lunn for giving these young Canadians the opportunity to continue developing their skills at home by supporting the 2010 Triathlon Soulanges."
Coteau-du-Lac is a small municipality of 6500 citizens, located 40 km west of Montréal near the St. Lawrence Seaway. The criterium-style race provides a great show for spectators by allowing them to follow the athletes throughout the race.
The Government of Canada believes that participation in sport is part of a healthy lifestyle and contributes to a healthy society. Hosting international sport events gives Canada the opportunity to showcase our country to athletes and spectators from all over the world.
The Government of Canada is the single largest contributor to sport in Canada, and supports participation and excellence from the playground to the podium. A contribution of $20,000 was provided to Triathlon Canada for the 2010 Triathlon Soulanges through Sport Canada's Hosting Program.
