MOOSE JAW, Saskatchewan, June 4, 2010 - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Ray Boughen, Member of Parliament (Palliser), today announced funding for the Association communautaire fransaskoise de Moose Jaw (ACFMJ).
This investment will enable the Association to carry out its 2010-2011 programming. In cooperation with community organizations and institutions such as Eacute;cole Ducharme, École St-Margaret&, and the Association des parents fransaskois, the Association will coordinate and offer socio-cultural activities and services to the community. The Association will create and distribute promotional tools such as a brochure and community newsletter. This will allow it to enhance the visibility of the activities it offers the community and increase the participation of Francophones, Francophiles, exogamous families, and French-speaking immigrants in those activities.
"Promoting our official languages and supporting official-language minority communities are priorities for our Government," said Minister Moore. "That is why we are proud to support organizations that play a key role in the development of the various Francophone communities in our country."
"By offering a wide range of programming in French, the Association communautaire fransaskoise de Moose Jaw is fostering the vitality and long-term development of its community," said Mr. Boughen. "This contributes to the social and economic well-being of both the region and the province."

"These funds will allow us to ensure the growth and vibrancy of the Francophone and Francophile community in Moose Jaw and the surrounding area."
The Association communautaire fransaskoise de Moose Jaw is a non-profit organization dedicated to community development. It offers services and cultural activities to the Francophone and Francophile community in Moose Jaw and the surrounding area.
The Government of Canada has provided funding of $65,000 through the Community Life component of the Development of Official-Language Communities Program. This program of the Department of Canadian Heritage aims to foster the development of Canada's minority Anglophone and Francophone communities and enable them to participate fully in all aspects of Canadian life.
