Saint-Laurent, Quebec, June 8, 2010 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, announced that Mechtronix Systems Inc., an MWC company, will receive $1,200,000 in repayable funding through the Business and Regional Growth program for the establishment of a call, service and support centre in Montréal to serve its customers worldwide. This centre will enable the enterprise to increase its international presence and expand into new markets by capitalizing on emerging opportunities, particularly in the Asia and Pacific, South America, Middle East and China.
"Innovation and ongoing product improvement are a key priority for companies that, like Mechtronix Systems, are looking to conquer domestic and foreign markets and pursue their growth. That is precisely what this flight simulator manufacturer is doing by setting up an ultra-sophisticated call, service and support centre. This will allow the enterprise to strengthen its ability to provide integrated services to its international customers and increase its competitiveness. The heightened visibility will also mean greater advantages for Mechtronix Systems, which will in turn help consolidate Montréal's position within the global aeronautics supply chain. For all of these reasons, Canada Economic Development is pleased to support this large-scale project," explained the Minister of State.
The call centre will offer real-time services to Mechtronix Systems customers as well as to the company's teams of engineers working in Montréal and around the world. The establishment of this facility, which will necessitate an overall investment of $3,085,000, will lead to the creation of new high-quality jobs over a five-year period. The firm hopes to substantially increase its revenues from the commercialization of these services over the next five years and thereby sustain its sales growth.
Canada's Economic Action Plan contains measures designed to stimulate innovation and creativity in all sectors in order to help Canada maintain its role as a world leader in knowledge, science and technology. To that end, the Government of Canada has earmarked some $5 billion for science and technology projects that span several years. This major investment confirms the government's commitment to supporting excellence in research and development.
