OTTAWA – Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, will travel to Vancouver Island, British Columbia, on June 11 and 12, 2010, to preside over the Pacific International Fleet Review in honour of the Canadian Naval Centennial.
During her stay, Her Excellency will participate in the following official activities:

Visit to the Centre for Global Studies at the University of Victoria
The Governor General will be welcomed by Dr. Gordon S. Smith, Executive Director of the Centre for Global Studies and winner of the 2009 Vanier Medal. This medal is one of the highest forms of recognition for Canadian public administrators—which is managed by the Institute of Public Administration of Canada. A discussion will also take place with staff and youth who have been working on projects in Canada and around the world with the International Institute for Child Rights and Development.

Pacific Canadian Naval Centennial International Fleet Review
As commander-in-chief of Canada, Her Excellency will review ships at anchor from the Canadian Fleet Pacific Flag Ship, HMCS Algonquin. Following the fleet review, the Governor General will watch a skydiving display by the Canadian Forces SkyHawks Parachute Team, a fly past of Maritime and Search and Rescue aircraft, and a performance by the Canadian Forces 431 “Snowbirds” Squadron Air Demonstration Team.
In celebration of the Canadian Naval Centennial, the Canadian Navy’s Pacific Formation, Maritime Forces Pacific and the Canadian Fleet Pacific will host 12 ships from five other Pacific Rim Nations at an International Fleet Review from June 9 to 14, 2010.
