Laval, Quebec, June 9, 2010 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, today announced $200,000 in repayable funding to Savons Prolav Inc. to acquire specialized equipment and thereby increase its productivity.
Savons Prolav designs, manufactures and markets environmentally-friendly household and commercial cleaning products under the Bio-Vert trademark.
With its products in increasing demand in Canada, Savons Prolav management adopted a strategy to improve its productivity. The integration of specialized equipment will, among other things, enable the enterprise to reduce the time of certain production cycles and improve efficiencies in workstations by upgrading them and eliminating a number of manual operations.
"Innovative enterprises, like Savons Prolav, that focus on product development and productivity improvement make a huge contribution to the Canadian economy. This Laval company's project, which will result in the creation of three new jobs, highlights the expertise it has acquired since its inception in 1981. Furthermore, this government support will help strengthen the environmental technology niche, which plays a key role in regional economic development," explained the Minister of State.
This government funding has been awarded through the Business and Regional Growth program, which is designed to help businesses improve their performance, become more competitive and engage more heavily in innovation in order to promote their sustainable growth.
"The Canadian economy is well on its way to recovery. We can already see that the special measures provided for in Canada's Economic Action Plan are making a considerable difference. Implementation of Phase II of this plan, which calls for $19 billion in investment, will help lay the foundations for solid long-term economic growth and job creation," the Minister of State concluded.
