Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service.
Janice Charette, currently Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, becomes Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office, effective July 26, pending her next Deputy assignment.
Ian Shugart, currently Deputy Minister of the Environment, becomes Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, effective July 26.
Paul Boothe, currently Senior Associate Deputy Minister of Industry, becomes Deputy Minister of the Environment, effective July 26.
Simon Kennedy, currently Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Plans and Consultation), Privy Council Office, becomes Senior Associate Deputy Minister of Industry, effective September 1.
William F. Pentney, currently Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence, becomes Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Plans and Consultation), Privy Council Office, effective September 1.
Donna Jane Miller, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Justice, becomes Visiting Scholar at the University of Manitoba, serving as Adjunct Professor jointly to the Department of Political Studies and the Faculty of Law, effective immediately.
The Prime Minister took the opportunity to thank Len Edwards, who is retiring after a very distinguished career of over 40 years in the Public Service, for his dedication to public service and the significant contributions he has made in representing Canada and serving Canadians. The Prime Minister wished him the very best in his future endeavours.
