Winkler, Manitoba
Candice Hoeppner, Member of Parliament for Portage-Lisgar, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced Government of Canada support to help Eagle Mountain Homes Ltd. strengthen economic opportunities in Winkler.
"Eagle Mountain Homes manufactures an innovative, well-built, and energy-efficient product that is generating a lot of interest regionally and internationally," said Candice Hoeppner, Member of Parliament for Portage–Lisgar. "Our Government is committed to the economic development of Manitoba communities, and we are proud to support this company to help them grow, creating jobs and expanding their markets."
Under the project, Eagle Mountain Homes Ltd. will establish an assembly facility and ultimately build up to five modular homes a day delivering them to the Arctic, other remote domestic markets and to the United States. Employment opportunities will be created during construction and full-time jobs will be created once the plant is in operation.
Federal funding of $842,250 is being provided through the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) as part of Canada's Economic Action Plan.
"It is the intent of Eagle Mountain Homes to provide another option to all communities for a warm, safe and comfortable home," said Mr. Jake Neufeld, designer, Eagle Mountain Homes Ltd.
CAF supports the most affected western Canadian communities, such as those that are heavily reliant on resource-based industries. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the fund in the four western provinces.
