VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, July 12, 2010 - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Minister of Labour, today met with representatives of business, labour and academia for a national roundtable on occupational health and safety to discuss emerging trends and challenges in the workplace.
"I would like to thank all the participants for sharing their comments and best practice approaches on occupational health and safety in evolving workplaces," said Minister Raitt. "Healthy work environments act as a catalyst to productivity and innovation. We can all work together to ensure that we have the model for fair, respectful and healthy workplaces that will make Canada strong and prosperous."
The national rountable in Vancouver is the first of several meetings to be held in the upcoming months. The purpose of these consultations is to create an open dialogue on the leadership necessary in creating safe and productive workplaces across Canada.
