TORONTO, ONTARIO, AUGUST 9, 2010 – Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada’s Minister of Labour, hosted a roundtable with representatives from the business, labour and academia sectors, which focused on occupational health and safety. Discussions included emerging trends and challenges in the workplace, as well as violence prevention and ways to increase productivity.
“I would like to thank all the participants for contributing their insight on occupational health and safety in evolving workplaces,” said Minister Raitt. “Canadians spend a majority of their waking hours in the workplace, and our Government is working to foster a healthy, safe environment that will boost productivity and encourage economic growth.”
This discussion is part of a national roundtable on Canadian workplace safety. The purpose of these consultations is to create an open dialogue on the leadership necessary in creating safe and productive workplaces across Canada.
