Mont-Tremblant (Quebec), August 3, 2010 – The Canadian Space Agency (CSA), Station Mont-Tremblant and the Laval Amateur Astronomy Club are once again joining forces to bring you a festive programme for the 15th edition of Tremblant Beneath the Stars. Canadians of all ages are invited to attend these unique free admission star gazing activities on August 13th and 14th.
WHAT:
- visit CSA's tent in the pedestrian village to meet our team;
- participate in our Celestial Scavenger Hunt;
- count the numerous shooting stars at the summit of Mont-Tremblant;
- observe the beautiful night sky through the telescopes of some 40 amateur astronomers;
- observe the Sun safely with telescopes;
- mountain hike to discover the constellations;
- take part in dynamic indoor and outdoor presentations for the whole family:
- The Legacy of the Space Shuttle, by Mathieu Caron, Canadian Space Agency (bilingual presentation)
- Travels on a virtual spaceship: How I spent my summer vacation star bathing near a red giant, by Dr. Jaymie Matthews, MOST Mission Principal Investigator and astronomy professor at the University of British Columbia (English only)
- A Light-Speed Tour of the Planets, by Ruth Ann Chicoine and Danielle Cormier, Canadian Space Agency (presentations in English and French)
- The Galactic Zoo: Constellations and Shooting Stars, by Richard Grou, Canadian Space Agency (presentations in English and French)
