Gatineau, Quebec, September 13, 2010 – Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Pontiac, today announced a repayable contribution of $390,000 to the Milident Dental Laboratory.
Awarded through the Business and Regional Growth program, this financial assistance will enable the company to acquire state-of-the-art specialized equipment.
“This funding from Canada Economic Development will help support the development of an innovative enterprise, which is consistently growing,” said Minister Cannon.
The acquisitions to be made by Milident are part of its expansion plan which includes the construction of a new building, work on which began today. Nine new jobs will also be created within the next two years, bringing the team to a total of 41 people. The project calls for a total investment of $4.7 million.
“This expansion project will allow Milident to optimize its performance, be more competitive, and thus increase its sales,” the Minister added.
Innovation and high technology are promising growth sectors for the Outaouais region, as are tourism, agri-food and the transformation of value-added wood products. By focusing its efforts on these priority sectors, Canada Economic Development is helping stimulate the regional economy.
