EDMONTON, ALBERTA, September 7, 2010 - Mr. Mike Lake, Member of Parliament for Edmonton-MillWoods-Beaumont, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, today officially opened the Edmonton Millbourne Service Canada Centre.
"This wonderful facility offers more space and allows for a more interactive, welcoming and accessible environment to better meet the needs of Service Canada clients in the Edmonton area," said Mr. Lake.
Previously co-located with the Province of Alberta's service centre and known as the Edmonton South Service Canada Centre, this new stand-alone centre will better meet the needs of Service Canada clients. The new location in the Millbourne Mall, at the corner of 38th Avenue and Millwoods Road, will provide enhanced Service Canada visibility in the community and offer a more interactive and welcoming environment for clients.
Residents of Edmonton will continue to receive easy, convenient access to a wide range of federal government programs and services through this new Service Canada Centre, including being able to apply for a passport and a Social Insurance Number, as well as Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security benefits.
Service Canada is committed to offering Canadians one-stop, personalized service they can access online, over the phone or in person.
