The Federal Government, through Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD), is contributing to the Alberta Centre for Advanced Microsystems and Nanotechnology Products (ACAMP). The investment will help ACAMP acquire specialized equipment that will support additional microsystems and nanotechnology (MNT) growth opportunities. It will also help ACAMP extend its marketing and business development, product development, and packaging and assembly services.
Today's investment of $1,950,000 builds on two previous investments in ACAMP and brings total WD funding to $8,950,000.
Support is being provided through the Western Diversification Program (WDP) which focuses on promoting increased economic activity that improves the viability, prosperity and standard of living for individuals and communities across Western Canada.
ACAMP's mandate is to provide a path to commercialization for microsystems and nanotechnology products from established firms, small start-up companies and researchers on a fee-for-service basis. The organization provides services in three areas of commercialization: marketing and business development, product development, and packaging and assembly.
ACAMP's services bridge the gap for researchers, small start-up companies and established firms that have a potentially viable product. They provide the help needed to develop these products into a profitable business opportunity.
To date, ACAMP has more than 60 companies who are clients that access its services and equipment.
