ST. JOHN'S, NL – November 5, 2010 – The Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of National Revenue, Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and Minister for the Atlantic Gateway, will be in Newfoundland and Labrador on Monday, November 8 and Tuesday, November 9. Time: 10:00 a.m. Location: Genesis Centre Boardroom, INCO Innovation Centre, Memorial University, St. John's [Room IIC 3001] Minister Ashfield will join with the Honourable Shawn Skinner, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development; and Dr. Gary Kachanoski, President and Vice- Chancellor of Memorial University of Newfoundland; to announce funding for Memorial University's Genesis Centre.
Time: 3:00 p.m. Location: Site of new YM-YWCA Facility, Ridge Road, St. John's
Minister Ashfield will join Mr. Jason Brown, Executive Director, YM-YWCA Northeast Avalon; and Michelle Northover, Director of Development, YM-YWCA Northeast Avalon, for a photo opportunity. The Government of Canada has invested $1.5 million in this facility through the Canada/Newfoundland and Labrador Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund.
Time: 4:00 p.m. Location: The Glacier, 45 Olympic Drive, Mount Pearl
Minister Ashfield will join His Worship Randy Simms, Mayor, City of Mount Pearl, for a photo opportunity. The Government of Canada has invested $4.46 million in the facility through the Building Canada Fund (BCF) Communities Component.
