Ottawa, Ontario —In response to the floods triggered by torrential rains in Vietnam in early October, CIDA will support the delivery of needed assistance to some 6,000 families (25,000 individuals) in the provinces of Ha Tinh and Quang Binh, in central Vietnam.
"Canada is pleased to assist those who have been affected and who require help and support as they recover from the floods in these Vietnamese provinces," said the Honourable Beverley J. Oda, Minister of International cooperation. "Our contribution to the Vietnam Red Cross Society, through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, is helping the national society deliver much needed assistance."
Through this operation, launched on October 18, Canada's contribution of $50,000 will help enable the Vietnam Red Cross Society to provide non-food relief items, household and hygiene items, as well as drinking water and livelihood support to the affected communities in the coming months.
