MARKHAM, ONTARIO, November 9, 2010 - Markham residents will receive easy, convenient access to a wide range of federal programs and services, announced Mr. Paul Calandra, Member of Parliament for Oak Ridges-Markham, who was representing the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, at the official opening of the Markham Service Canada Centre today.
"This facility offers an interactive, welcoming and accessible environment to better meet the needs of Service Canada clients in Markham, providing services in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Tamil," said Mr. Calandra.
This Service Canada Centre is designed to enhance access to services in Markham and surrounding areas, and represents one of over 600 points of service in communities throughout Canada.
Local residents will be able to apply for a variety of programs and services at the new centre, including Employment Insurance, Social Insurance Numbers, the Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security.
