OTTAWA-Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston, will undertake an official visit to Ontario, on December 2 and 3, 2010.
During the visit, Their Excellencies will travel to Toronto to meet with the province's Lieutenant Governor, Premier and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, as well as the Mayor of the capital city.
The Governor General will also attend the 16th Annual Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Toronto Chapter's Philanthropy Awards Luncheon.
"I'm looking forward to meeting and honouring individuals who have contributed so much to help and shape their communities," said His Excellency David Johnston. "I believe that philanthropy and volunteerism are key components to establishing a smart and caring nation, which is why I have made them one of my three pillars as governor general of Canada."
On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3), Their Excellencies and Their Honours the Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, and Mrs. Ruth Ann Onley, will visit patients, caregivers and researchers at the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.
