THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO, January 27, 2011 - Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, held consultations with stakeholders in Thunder Bay to discuss job creation, economic growth, and emerging trends and challenges in the workplace.
"The economy continues to be our government's top priority, and these discussions are helping us to focus on some of the current issues in the workplace, as well as to receive input on possible next steps during Canada's economic recovery," said Minister Raitt. "Economic consultations are an important opportunity for us to hear what our stakeholders' priorities are as we prepare to deliver the next phase of Canada's Economic Action Plan."
The Government of Canada is working to ensure that Canadian workplaces remain fair, safe, productive and cooperative environments that contribute to Canada's prosperity and the well-being of workers and their families.
This discussion is part of ongoing consultations with stakeholders across the country. In addition to fostering an open dialogue on the leadership necessary to create safe and productive workplaces across Canada, these consultations are helping to secure the country's economic future.
