BRANTFORD, Ontario, January 13, 2011 - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Phil McColeman, Member of Parliament (Brant), today announced funding for the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) for French-language translation of the English content on its website.
"Our Government is a leader in promoting our two official languages in Canada," said Minister Moore. "With this support, we are helping to expand the resources available to Canadians in both official languages."
"Our two official languages are an undeniable advantage for Canadians," said Mr. McColeman. "By making translation of this website possible, we are giving Canadians access to useful information in both our official languages."
"The NACC thanks the Government of Canada for this support," said Michael McAllister, NACC President. "It will help the Association, which dates back to 1896, to reach more people all across our country. We take seriously our commitment to bilingualism in the services we provide. The funding is a tool that makes our task easier."
The Government of Canada has provided funding of $4,187 through the Support for Interpretation and Translation sub-component of the Promotion of Linguistic Duality component of the Department of Canadian Heritage's Enhancement of Official Languages Program. The sub-component aims to assist organizations that encourage the participation of Canadians in both official languages at public events and to increase the number of documents available in French and English.
