OTTAWA-His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will receive the credentials of two high commissioners and four ambassadors on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at the Citadelle of Québec.

High commissioner-designate of the Republic of South Africa
His Excellency Philip Buxo
High commissioner-designate of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago
His Excellency Udomphol Ninnad
Ambassador-designate of the Kingdom of Thailand
His Excellency László Pordány
Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Hungary
His Excellency Francisco Obadiah Campbell Hooker
Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Nicaragua
His Excellency Igor Munteanu
Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Moldova
Upon their arrival in Canada and before they can carry out their duties as heads of mission, new high commissioners, for which Queen Elizabeth II is not the Head of State, and new ambassadors must be officially welcomed by the governor general of Canada. High commissioners representing countries for which Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state, are introduced to the prime minister of Canada, rather than the governor general. Credentials are the official documents by which new heads of diplomatic missions are presented by their head of State to Canada. Currently, there are more than 130 heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Canada.

Media covering the ceremony must contact the Rideau Hall Press Office the day before the event. They will have to show their accreditation at the Citadelle gate, and access the Ballroom through the administration door.
