"Canada regrets the loss of life in Bahrain and calls on all parties to refrain from violence. We urge the Bahraini authorities to exercise restraint, and we encourage the Bahraini government to promptly investigate the deaths of protesters.
"Canada urges Bahrain to respect its citizens' rights to freedom of expression and assembly, and to engage in peaceful dialogue with its people to address their concerns."
