OTTAWA - March 3, 2011 - The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is pleased to invite the public and the media to an open house at the RCMP Musical Ride Stables on Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Promising to be fun for the whole family, the event provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to Canada’s National Capital Region to tour the home of the world famous Musical Ride and to meet the horses and riders.
In addition, the open house will feature displays and demonstrations by the Canadian Forces, Ontario Provincial Police, police dogs, the RCMP Explosives Disposal and Technology Branch, and Child Find. Be sure to bring your camera to have your photo taken with one of the Musical Ride horses and Safety Bear, the mascot of the RCMP.
Visitors can explore the Musical Ride Visitors’ Center to learn more about the RCMP, as well as The Mountie Shop will be open for visitors to browse. Door prizes consisting of RCMP memorabilia will be given away throughout the day.
Admission is free, however, visitors are encouraged to make a monetary or non-perishable food donation to the Ottawa Food Bank.
The Musical Ride Stables are located on the grounds of the Canadian Police College at the end of St. Laurent Blvd. North and Sandridge Rd. The grounds can also be accessed off the Aviation Parkway. There is free parking on site.
