Edmonton, March 14, 2011 — Tim Uppal, Member of Parliament for Edmonton-Sherwood Park, today announced financial support for the “Sharing the Tradition: Building bridges among cultural and mainstream communities.”
“By funding events like this one, we help showcase the diversity of our country, and the many talents of younger Canadians,” said MP Uppal on behalf of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
The Harmony Dialogue Group is receiving $15,000 for the event under Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Inter-Action program.
“With this support from the Inter-Action program, events such as this one celebrate this community’s diversity as well as our shared values, history and institutions,” said MP Uppal.
The 20 day event will bring communities from various backgrounds and faiths together at 33 locations across the Edmonton area in order to promote cross-cultural understanding.
The event opened on March 3, 2011, and will run until March 31, 2011, at various locations in Edmonton, and is open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
