Regina, Saskatchewan, April 12, 2011 – Chris Hadfield, the next Canadian astronaut scheduled to fly to the International Space Station, will be at the Saskatchewan Science Centre on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 to give a presentation to students and visitors on human space exploration.
This event is part of a week-long tour that will include presentations in Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina and Kingston. Mr. Hadfield will speak to the training in preparation for his upcoming space mission, the 10th anniversary of Canadarm2 and the 50th anniversary of the first human spaceflight. On April 12, 1961, Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel into space.
Chris Hadfield was the first Canadian astronaut to perform a spacewalk when he installed Canadarm2 on the Station almost ten years ago (April 19, 2001). Mr. Hadfield's next mission, Expedition 34/35, is set to launch in December 2012. During the mission, he will become the first Canadian to command the International Space Station.
Journalists are invited to the presentation.
