KINGSTON, Ont. - Media are invited to the Royal Military College (RMC) of Canada on Friday, May 20, 2011, for the Commissioning Parade for more than 200 RMC Cadets.
The Minister of National Defence, the Honourable Peter MacKay, will present the Sword of Honour to the cadet of the Graduating Class who best combines high standards of proficiency in each of the four components of the RMCC programme. General Walt Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff, along with Environmental and Operational Commanders will present the graduating cadets with their Officer Commissions in the Canadian Forces. Cadets will display their foot drill, sword movements, and the rifle salute known as the “Feux de Joie” in honour of the graduating class. The newly commissioned officers will then march through the Memorial Arch, signifying the end of their training at RMC. The ceremony will include a flypast by the Snowbirds Demonstration Team.
