OTTAWA—His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Canada 2011 Convention for the Indian Diaspora in North America & the Caribbean, taking place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at 5:30 p.m.
At 6:40 p.m., His Excellency will deliver the keynote speech on the important relationship between the people of India and Canada, and on the contributions of Indo-Canadians to society as we head toward Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017.
About PBD Canada 2011
PBDCanada 2011 is the largest convention for the Indian Diaspora (non-resident Indians) in North America and the Caribbean region. It is the first time the event is being held in Canada; in previous years, it was held in New York, Singapore, The Hague and Durban. The convention is organized by the Government of India and the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce as part of the Year of India in Canada celebrations.
