Ottawa – Today, the Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for FedNor, addressed delegates at the annual symposium for the Association of Professional Executives of the Public Service of Canada, highlighting that the success and effectiveness of the Government of Canada's upcoming fiscal austerity will depend in large part upon the expertise of the Public Service.
"Canada is emerging from the global recession as one of the world's top-performing advanced economies," said Minister Clement. "This has been made possible in large part by the hard work and dedication of our world-class public service."
The theme of this year's symposium is Global Public Servants: Pushing out the Borders. Participants are exploring how external forces are driving innovation, excellence and, ultimately, a smarter Canada.
"Moving forward, you will be instrumental in assisting the Government of Canada in further improving the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations and programs to ensure value for the taxpayer's money," noted the Minister.
