Ref. #2-3501
OTTAWA, ONTARIO (June 14, 2011) – The Honourable John Duncan, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, today issued the following statement:
“I would like to congratulate the New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council on the celebration of its 40th Annual General Assembly, held last weekend in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
The off-reserve Aboriginal people of New Brunswick have benefited a great deal over the past 40 years from the Council's efforts to provide programs and services to their constituents, and to represent the interests of their membership. Our Government is proud to contribute to these efforts.
At the same time, I am pleased to offer my congratulations to Kim Nash-McKinley, on her re-election as President and Chief of the Council.
Developing strong, lasting partnerships with communities and organizations remains a key priority for our Government. We will continue to build on the successful partnership between our two organizations and work with the Province of New Brunswick to achieve our common goals for improved economic and social opportunities for Aboriginal people in New Brunswick.
