Today’s official opening of the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park will allow access to a universally accessible trail system, which was developed through support from the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“Today's opening of the trail system in Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park illustrates the success of Canada's Economic Action Plan,
” said the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification.
The Government of Canada’s investment of $1 million was directed towards the creation of a trail system within Alberta’s newest provincial park. Visitors to Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park are now able to enjoy access to a three-metre wide trail system which begins at the park in Cochrane and will eventually join with the trails of Calgary’s Haskayne Park. The trail system is approximately 30 kilometres in length and will provide visitors of all ages and abilities with enhanced opportunities to stay active and experience the area’s rich cultural history.
“Our Government is proud to have invested in this project through the RInC program,
” said Blake Richards, Member of Parliament for Wild Rose. “Today’s official opening is a reflection of our commitment to enhance recreational lifestyles for Canadians, while providing residents and visitors opportunities to experience and appreciate natural spaces.
”
As part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, Western Economic Diversification Canada invested over $440 million towards more than 1,000 projects across the West. Through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, WD provided almost $150 million in funds to support 718 projects across the West, including 198 projects in Alberta.
