OTTAWA – His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will deliver the opening address at the Changing Philanthropy, new visions, new voices conference presented by Philanthropic Foundations of Canada. The event will take place at the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel on Monday, October 3, 2011.
At 9:00 a.m., His Excellency will address hundreds of participants from across the country and abroad gathered at the conference to discuss major topics and issues in Canadian philanthropy. In his speech, the Governor General will address how philanthropy and volunteerism are key components in establishing a smart and caring nation.
Philanthropic Foundations of Canada (PFC) is a pan-Canadian advocate and resource for effective organized philanthropy that benefits Canadians and their communities. It promotes the growth and development of effective and responsible foundations and organized philanthropy in Canada through provision of membership services, resources and advocacy.
