Government of Canada Celebrates the Completion of Infrastructure Stimulus Fund Projects in Alberta
Calgary, Alberta, October 29, 2011 – Michelle Rempel, Member of Parliament for Calgary Centre–North, today celebrated the successful conclusion of infrastructure projects across Alberta under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, a key part of Canada's Economic Action Plan.
"Our government delivered timely and targeted funding that created jobs and boosted our regional economy here in Alberta,"
said MP Rempel. "Through Canada's Economic Action Plan, we supported 252 Infrastructure Stimulus Fund projects across Alberta that will strengthen communities for years to come."
Through Canada's Economic Action Plan, the Government of Canada has worked in partnership with provinces, territories and municipalities and other partners to deliver timely and targeted investment to create jobs and boost the economy.
Through the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund alone, over $421 million was committed to 252 projects in communities across Alberta. In every corner of the Province, jobs were created when the economy needed them most. Projects ranged from water facilities, roads and highways all over the Province, to significant LRT enhancements and the construction of the GO Community Centre in Edmonton, to a new library for Sheep River, to the new Canada Sports Hall of Fame museum in Calgary. Although the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund is now completed, the economic benefits of these projects will last for years to come.
