Montmagny, Quebec, October 12, 2011 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces the awarding of $87,000 in repayable funding to PurGenesis Technologies Inc. for the deployment of a global commercialization strategy of its line of cosmeceuticals.
“PurGenesis products contain 100% natural active ingredients. Their sought-after properties are expected to generate keen interest, which could lead to significant benefits for the Regional County Municipality of Montmagny,” said Minister Lebel.
The research and development work of PurGenesis has created a line of anti-aging products based on certified organically-grown baby spinach leaves.
The funding announced has been awarded through the Business and Regional Growth program. By supporting PurGenesis, Canada Economic Development is contributing to the consolidation and growth of the life sciences industry, a key sector of the economy.
On June 29, 2009, Canada Economic Development announced a $281,586 contribution to PurGenesis toward the acquisition of specialized equipment for its Montmagny plant, which required a total investment of $12.8 million to become production-ready.
