Lachute, Quebec, October 12, 2011 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces the awarding of $120,000 in repayable funding to the firm Haim Aviation for the acquisition of production equipment and implementation of a first commercialization strategy in the U.S. market.
“The Government of Canada was happy to support the start-up of Haim Aviation, whose commercialization efforts will help diversify the region’s economy,” said Minister Lebel.
Founded in July 2009, Haim Aviation specializes in the design and manufacture of ultralight aircraft, whose fuselage is entirely made of aluminium. By 2013, the company intends to offer a line of three aircrafts (in ready to fly or kit versions) meeting U.S. LSA and Canadian AULA standards. These aircrafts are designed with amateur pilots in mind and are primarily intended for the U.S. market.
The company’s commercialization strategy includes improving its Web site and advertising in trade publications. As early as 2012, the company intends to take part in two major North American aviation events, namely, SUN’n FUN in April, and AirVenture in Oshkosh in July where it expects to have an aircraft on display.
The financial assistance has been awarded through the Community Diversification program.
