Prime Minister Stephen Harper met this afternoon with Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, the host and chair of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
They discussed a range of multilateral and bilateral issues, including the anticipated discussions at the Commonwealth meeting.
Prime Minister Harper and Prime Minister Gillard also discussed next week's G-20 Summit in Cannes and efforts by European Union leaders to take clear and decisive action to address the mounting debt crisis in several member countries.
The two prime ministers also addressed bilateral cooperation between Canada and Australia, including growing bilateral trade and investment and collaboration on migrant smuggling.
