Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on the selection of Bob McLeod as the new Premier of the Northwest Territories:
"Bob McLeod has been chosen by the Legislative Assembly to lead the Government of the Northwest Territories. On behalf of the Government of Canada, I congratulate him and his team.
“I look forward to working with this new government to continue to advance the interests of the people of the Northwest Territories and all Canadians through Canada’s Northern Strategy, which is a cornerstone of the Government’s agenda.
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank Premier Floyd Roland for his leadership over the years as Premier of the Northwest Territories and his valuable contribution to the Canadian Federation.”
