Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued the following statement today on the election of Alison Redford as the new leader of the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party:
"Alison Redford was chosen to become the new leader of the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party, therefore becoming Premier-Designate of Alberta. On behalf of the Government of Canada, I congratulate her and her team on their election victory.
“I look forward to working with Premier-Designate Redford on issues that matter to Albertans and all Canadians, including the challenges posed by the current global economic climate.
"I would also like to thank outgoing Premier Ed Stelmach for his leadership and his dedication to the people of Alberta."
