Montréal, Quebec, October 20, 2011 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the enterprise Technologies MicroSigns Inc. has been awarded $291,072 in repayable funding to implement a commercialization strategy that will help it expand into U.S. and European markets.
“Economic prosperity depends on our enterprises’ competitiveness and ability to innovate. That is why the Government of Canada is supporting Technologies MicroSigns Inc., a firm that is pulling out all the stops to move ahead in this area,” said Minister Lebel.
Based in Montréal, MicroSigns has developed a unique merchandising management system designed specifically for mobile phone retailers. The interactive colour MicroPlayer screen replaces the paper labels that retailers use in displays positioned next to featured devices. This new interactive technology helps shoppers to research technical details and promotions and select products and plans, all in real time. This automated solution significantly reduces the time it takes to implement information changes in stores and communicate more effectively with consumers.
After years of research and development, the firm is now launching the commercialization of its innovative product in the United States and Europe.
The funding announced has been awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Business and Regional Growth program. Technologies MicroSigns Inc.’s project will contribute to the consolidation and growth of the information and communications technology (ITC) sector, a priority for Montréal.
