The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of State for Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and La Francophonie and the Honourable Madeleine Dubé, Minister of Health and MLA for Edmundston-St-Basile, announced an investment of nearly $400,000 in Edmundston today. Thanks to this financing, Water Blasting & Vacuum Services Inc., an industrial cleaning company, will be able to modernize its operations and improve its productivity and competitiveness.
"Our investment in Water Blasting & Vacuum Services Inc. will enable the company to modernize its operations, improve its productivity, reinforce its competitiveness and increase its personnel," said Minister Valcourt. "The project will also enable the company to expand its services in the local market as well as outside the region. Our government’s top priority is the economy and job creation in every region across the country, and we are getting there thanks to investments like this one.”
"Investing in economic development projects in Edmundston and the Madawaska region is important for the economy of northern New Brunswick," said Dubé, on behalf of Economic Development Minister Paul Robichaud. "This investment will create four new jobs and allow Water Blasting & Vacuum Services Inc. to improve productivity at its newly expanded facility."
Water Blasting & Vacuum Services Inc. is a company that works in the field of industrial cleaning and waste management of major industries. The company serves the northwest region of New Brunswick, eastern Québec, Ontario, as well as the State of Maine. The project involves the construction of a 150’x100 building and acquisition of equipment for managing industrial ashes, specially designed to transform them into a final product of much better quality. This project will help Water Blasting & Vacuum Services Inc. to improve its industrial ash management services to Twin River Paper Co. in Edmundston, among others. Finally, the project will reduce environmental impacts related to the storage and handling of industrial ashes.
"This new project will allow us to expand our customer base while being conscientious of environmental impact by transforming industrial ash into fertilizer that can be spread on agricultural land,” said Luc Laforge, CEO of WBVS. "With the support of our customers in the forest industry and other industry for several years, we are now able to invest in the purchase of new modern equipment. The financial support and confidence the federal and provincial governments have shown WBVS is greatly appreciated. It will allow our company to remain productive and competitive for many years. "
The Government of Canada, through ACOA, will contribute $275,000 to the project under the Business Development Program (BDP) while the Province of New Brunswick, through its Northern New Brunswick Economic Development and Innovation Fund (NNBEDIF), is contributing $115,000. The company, for its part, will invest $205,000.
