The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of State for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and La Francophonie and New Brunswick’s Minster of Local Government, Bruce Fitch, joined by Robert Goguen, MP for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, today announced a combined investment of just over $2 million in Malley Industries. With the support of this investment, Malley Industries will expand its operations and position itself for growth.
“Our Government is proud to invest in Malley Industries, a company that for more than 30 years has focused its efforts on business excellence, continuously creating and sustaining local jobs and contributing to the economic vitality of the community,” said Minister Valcourt. “This investment will help Malley Industries to acquire new equipment, improve its productivity, enhance its competitiveness and continue the important contribution that its growth makes to the economy of New Brunswick.”
Specifically, the repayable funding provided through ACOA’s Business Development Program will help the company to purchase new equipment to increase their capacity to meet customer demands and to acquire the highly specialized equipment they need to continue to develop their niche markets in plastic design and production. The company is also receiving support to help it improve the productivity and efficiency of its operations. The Province of New Brunswick’s recent investment allowed the company to construct a newly modernized plant.
“The provincial government was pleased to support Malley Industries with a $1 million term loan and a strategic investment of $496,000. This funding has allowed them to expand and diversify their business,” said Local Government Minister Bruce Fitch. “Our government is committed to creating an environment where businesses can expand their workforce and become more competitive, which in turn will help increase prosperity and build a brighter economic future for all New Brunswickers.”
Minister Fitch spoke on behalf of Economic Development Minister Paul Robichaud.
Malley Industries is a specialty vehicle manufacturer involved in customizing ambulances, prisoner and specialized police vehicles, conversions for persons with disabilities, and a wide variety of metal and plastic components for the automotive, industrial, and aerospace industries.
“Malley Industries is proud to be growing and creating employment in New Brunswick's manufacturing sector," said President and CEO Terry Malley. "We value the relationships we've built with all levels of government and appreciate the confidence the Province and ACOA have shown in our company through the various programs we have participated in. New Brunswick is a great place to live and do business.”
The Government of Canada, through ACOA, is providing two repayable contributions through its Business Development Program of more than $470,000 to assist Malley Industries to acquire new equipment as well as investing $50,000 through the Agency’s Entrepreneurship and Skills Development program to enhance the company’s productivity and the efficiency of its operations. The Province of New Brunswick has contributed a total of $1,496,000 which has helped the company with the re-location and construction of its new modern plant.
