Ottawa, Ontario (November 1, 2011) – The Honourable John Duncan, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development today announced the appointment of Cindy Allen, Johnny Charlie and Charlie Snowshoe as members of the Gwich'in Renewable Resources Board.
"The experience and knowledge of these individuals will be a great asset to this Board," said Minister Duncan. "I am very pleased that they have all agreed to do this important work."
The Gwich'in Renewable Resources Board was established by the Gwich'in Land Claim Settlement Act in December 1992. The Board is responsible for conservation and manages domestic and commercial harvesting of wildlife and forestry in the Gwich'in Settlement Area.
In order to have strong public institutions, the right individuals with the necessary expertise and skill sets are essential. Governor-in-Council appointments are based on the guiding principles of competency, professionalism and accessibility to all Canadians.
