Ottawa, Ontario - Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced that His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will represent Canada on a three-country State visit to Southeast Asia.
At the request of the Prime Minister, the Governor General will lead a delegation of distinguished Canadian academics and business people to Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore. The visit will take place between November 12 and November 22, 2011.
Canada’s engagement with Southeast Asia is growing. This upcoming State visit will showcase and enhance Canada’s political and trade relations with the region, and will further strengthen Canada’s academic and people-to-people links. The visit will also highlight opportunities for greater collaboration on trade, investment, innovation and education.
