Ottawa, Ontario (November 22, 2011) –The Honourable John Duncan, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development issued the following statement today:
“I am delighted to congratulate the 2012 recipients of the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards. These individuals have been honoured with this prestigious award for their outstanding accomplishments, leadership and dedication.
The National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation Awards are a celebration of excellence within the Aboriginal community and highlight the achievements of Aboriginal peoples across Canada. The awards will be formally presented to the recipients next February at the National Aboriginal Achievement Award Ceremony in Edmonton.
This year’s recipients have been recognized for their exceptional contributions to health, law, political science, culture, arts, among other disciplines. The recipients are leaders and visionaries in their communities and Canada.
The Government of Canada is a proud partner of the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation that promotes, supports and celebrates Aboriginal people in Canada.
