Governor General to Speak at Volunteer Toronto Event on the Benefits of Volunteerism
OTTAWA—His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada,
will be the keynote speaker at Volunteer Toronto’s event highlighting the importance of volunteering, on Monday, December 5, 2011, at TIFF Bell Lightbox, 350 King Street West, in Toronto, at 8:00 p.m.
To mark International Volunteer Day, His Excellency will meet with the board members of Volunteer Toronto and will deliver a keynote address on the importance of community building through volunteering, in an effort to build a smarter and more caring nation.
Prior to His Excellency’s keynote address, Volunteer Toronto will unveil SharedTime Digital Storytelling, an initiative that seeks to bring the reality of volunteerism in Toronto to life through the telling of stories from volunteers, using digital media.
